Polymer Chemistry and Nanosensor Development
Dr. Januka Budhathoki-Uprety
Research in the Budhathoki lab encompasses the interface between chemistry, biology and material science. Our research focuses on developing novel polymers, macromolecules, and nanomaterials that are engineered for tailored properties. Undergraduate students who will join the lab for summer research will have the opportunity to work on one of the following projects.
Project Title 1: Polymer Synthesis and Characterization
Students will learn hands-on techniques on organic polymer synthesis and characterization.
Project Title 2: Development of Near-infrared Fluorescent Optical Nanosensors
Students will learn hands-on techniques on nanomaterial functionalization, sensor development, and characterization.

Desired Skills: Background in Chemistry, Organic chemistry, Nanotechnology, Polymer Science, Material science and Engineering, Scientific report writing, and lab management
